Wives World ~ Treadmills and Mole Hills

Working with so much brokenness I see common themes midst all the pain.  Our lives are invaded with too much busyness, too much information, too many places to go, things to do, goals, dreams and stuff.  As my clients sit before me, I see them trudging along on a giant treadmill that continues to speed up.  All the while they get tireder and tireder. Less and less happy.  Cups are drained.  Numbness sets in. 

It is in this place of physical, mental, emotional exhaustion and spiritual deadness that every challenge starts looking like a mountain instead of the moe hill that is really is.  Every task begins to be monumental.  All relationships are disconnected.  Everyone manages in their own special way of handling life. 

Some go to their tv/video game/computer mind-numbing closets.  Some put on their Nikes and run…faster, longer, harder.  And hey…there are always the sales at the mall…that’s a great place to avoid the realities of life.  Others simply go to bed and pull the covers over their head.  Each soul in his own way is saying “stop the world I want to get off.”  This simply isn’t worth it.

Not to be the bearer of bad news I want to encourage those who find themselves on this ever-speeding treadmill unable to handle the mole hills …there is a better way.  It’s so simple, it seems childish.  Going back to Our Source to see who we are, where we came from, what our purpose is…retreating to our Father to receive His eternal love and acceptance…spending even a few precious moments looking into the eyes of the One who died for our peace (not as the world gives it) and eternal life…this is the place we should run to. This resting place is available on a daily basis.  Now this is a reason to set your alarm just 15 minutes earlier.  Start the day with a full tank and the treadmill won’t seem so scary.  And the mountains…we can move them with His help. They are afterall, only mole hills in the grand scheme of things.
