Wives World ~ When Shame Defeats Identity

I sometimes give a little shame quiz (available on my Web site under “self-tests) to my clients.  I am stunned and amazed at how God’s beautiful women servants do not connect with the Identity that Christ has bestowed upon them.  I am saddened that the Bride of Christ feels so low, ugly and impure.

Of course, we have the concept in our heads,  but we do not believe in our hearts that such an image of purity and value is possible.  We forget that Christ died a horrible death to defeat the shame put upon us by the enemy’s claws through past abuse and neglect.

Shame, a feeling of  “less-than”, “something about me is fundamentally flawed,” and “I am different” are all ways the enemy tries to keep Christ’s spotless, pure Bride from moving in freedom and grace.

I know this makes our Jesus sad.  By His Stripes we are healed.  He came and bore our shame.  Simple concept but hard to believe for those who’ve been slimed by the enemy’s concept of self.
