A trusted colleague shared with me yesterday that THIS WEEK, the first official work week, is the most depressing seven days of the year. I am thinking the unfilled days of the calendar loom ahead of us with a power that only the unknown can bring. Another bit of trivia is that the majority of New Year’s resolutions are broken by the third week of January. This of course if why I am so against New Year’s resolutions as they set us up for failure and discouragement.
Hearing this “most depressing week of the year” news I examined my own heart. ODD! Wow! I am not depressed…I am excited for this new beginning and for what the year has to bring. This was such an amazing freedom for me. You see there are years past that I can think of where I too was in that statistic. Thinking about 360 or so more days of “this” was depressing, discouraging and hopeless.
I know what break through moments my past has held. I desire this freedom for everyone who crosses my path. It is so great to honestly say I am excited about life. That my faith truly has grown and that in the midst of the challenges I have hope!
If you are you are a member of this discouraging statistic I come today to encourage you. You are in the middle of your story. God isn’t finished yet! Keep the faith, keep seeking His face, keep on keeping on and begin to believe somewhere in the darkness there is a light that shines just for you! You have a plan and purpose that cannot be stopped by any external situation!
“I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” Jeremiah 29:11 (Message)
“There is no plan, no wisdom, and no insight that can succeed against the Lord.” Proverbs 21:30 (NIV)
“Do your best, prepare for the worst—then trust God to bring victory.” Proverbs 21:31 (Message)
Be encouraged. Believe and Trust. God is not finished with your story!
