Wives World ~ “I Saw You…”

I believe there are three words that are even more powerful than “I love you.”  They are actually the full meaning of loving someone.  When you love someone you see them.  The cry of every human’s heart is to be seen.  For those who’ve suffered intense rejection the cry can be “let me be invisible” because being seen is so painful.  However, the bottomline for all of us is that we want “to be seen.”

Think of toddlers running to their parents.  To the waiting Mom or Dad when a child runs toward them, that parent sees nothing else for those few seconds.  That child is 100% on their radar screen.  That child knows they are seen, and therefore know they are loved.

Clients share so many moments with me about “not being seen.”  No one showed up for the school play.  No one showed up for the track event.  No one came to the basketball game.  To be seen means gives us the heart message that we are loved.

And there is marriage.  WOW!  When a partner fails or disappoints the other too many times they don’t want to be seen do they?  No, they hide and avoid.  On the other hand, when a spouse’s opinion or even presence is discounted or not taken as important, that husband or wife starts receiving the message that they are not loved.

I was amazed this morning reading John 2:48 (N IV).  “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.  Jesus answered, ” I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”   Jesus knew all the details.  He had truly seen this obscure man.  He knew when and where He’d seen him.

What comfort this gave me!  The God of the Universe knows all the details of my life.  He does see me.  He saw me before He called me.  He sees me now.  I am seen.  That means I am loved.  I will bask in this truth today!
